WHO WE ARE
In the UK there are around 1,200 injection moulders, of which 40% have owners aged 55 and over. This means in the coming decade around 500 businesses will either transfer ownership or close their doors as their owners look to retire.
It’s commonly quoted that 80% of businesses never sell, and this is true for a number of reasons:
This is a tremendous shame.
Not only through the loss of manufacturing knowledge, but also that many owners will never get succession for their company nor a financial reward after years of graft. We are passionate about keeping manufacturing alive in the UK and want to carry it through to the next generation.
Rather than looking for a “perfect” company that can be managed from a boardroom, we use our experience to get under the skin of the business, and work with the people on the shop floor to help it grow. Within our group, we have more than 50 experienced team members who lend their skills across the businesses.
FOUNDERS
Since the age of 10 when “helping out” in my Grandad’s workshop, I’ve always been obsessed with how things are made.
Now, 30 years later, I still carry this fascination and have been fortunate enough to have worked in manufacturing all my life.
What started with trips around food manufacturers as a recruiter of maintenance engineers later became management of a 24/7 injection moulding facility churning out 300M+ parts per year.
With 12 years Corporate manufacturing under my belt, I decided to put my skills to good use and build a small group of interlinked companies within injection moulding.
I have a passion for making things simple and believe the people (closest to the work) should be involved in decision making. This is the backbone of our group.
PODCASTS
After gaining 20+ years experience in the Corporate world, I realised my most successful and enjoyable projects were where things needed fixing. I have always gravitated towards IT and business process, so in 2022 I launched Uncomplicated Computing Ltd, a small consultancy which draws on my experience to help manufacturers and logistics companies implement digital process overhauls.
As a self-confessed “data nerd” and business simplification enthusiast, my “go-to” throughout my career has always been the use of unbiased, unemotional data driven by simple reporting tools.
In addition to private clients, Uncomplicated Computing was launched as a pre-cursor complimentary business to the Uncomplicated Group to help with systems modernisation and financial controls as we onboard acquired manufacturing businesses.
I’m also passionate about making things. Having worked in a large factory, I understand how important the process of taking a concept and turning it into something tangible is. As factory owners are retiring, this is becoming an increasingly dying art and I believe that this would be a huge loss to the UK, so I am committed to bringing this forward to the next generation.
